Acting Road Trip

Lines memorized, schedules cleared, we're off to our drug of choice with heads full of sunshine. Saturday Sisters; traveling the sun-kissed Texas Highways.  Heads full of personalities, time periods and genre's, yawning our way to workshops, classes and auditions.

Shimmy between the seats for the threadbare sides needed for the afternoon auditions. Arriving to class, crisp scripts handed out by the instructor. Blood rushing through our minds in bursts, like lit firecrackers beneath our skin as we memorize, ground the characters and make the words our own.

First single file into the mock auditions, young, middle aged, ready and half hypnotized. It's exciting and never the same. In a flash, clips are watched and we're relishing in another step toward our craft. Pleased with our critiques, that prop us up like soft pillows on our way to the afternoon's real auditions, number 4 this week!

Patient in the backed up line of actors, we're "UP"! Careful with our performance, remaining in our fulfillment, accomplishments and joyousness our work brings. Comfort is for cowards, we are daring risk-takers; come sweat, dry mouths, nerves and limbs of rubber.

Back in the car driving home, we are ten again, wild and free. Talking, exhilarated, hands gesturing, baptized in the sunbeams going down, trails of ice cream treats clinging to our fingers. For a moment we see the world with wide-eyed wonder. We painted our Masterpiece!
